ABOUT SEBASTIAN HETMAN

Focused and energetic. Leads by example, striving for growth and mastery on both team and product levels. Enables others to shine. Sets direction by finding a journey that both customers and the team want to join. Tends to bring out the best in people. At-a-glance facts- 13 years of experience in Tech and IT. Five in Product Space. Four in Risk Management- A number of success stories of creating pockets of agility and common sense- Led teams of up to 6 direct reports. Promoted their work and helped them build their careers- Achieved cost saving through automation and better business intelligence. How do I work with products- For me, a strong product owner acts as the de-facto head of product. Meaning, I feel accountable for the product\'s success, regardless of circumstances. As a product owner, my first job is identifying a compelling product vision and product strategy. A core WHY of the product. A story that both the stakeholders and the development team want to take part in. Then I make that aspiration a reality- Through releasing early and often, and seeking feedback, a product team turns uncertainty and ambiguity into testable hypotheses and a remarkable product they are proud of- The trick is making that happen within the existing constraints. How do I work with people- A mentor, who was much smarter than me (and still is), told me that a great manager spends half of his time removing obstacles the team is facing and the other half promoting the team\'s work. I would add, that a great leader creates the sort of environment where people feel safe to experiment and grow, and learn from their mistakes.
