1. Staff Software Engineer

   Physna

   Feb 2021 — Present

   Senior-most software engineer at Physna, working directly with the CTO and Director of Enterprise Engineering. Primarily contributes to R&D engineering efforts around machine-learning based product features, core Physna search technologies, and rapid product-to-market-fit iterations in Physna\'s Enterprise product. Mentors senior software engineers and guides software engineering efforts including engineering practice, architecture, and design. Highlights: Helped recruit Director of Engineer and Product Manager for the team, and grew the software engineering team to more than double its original size. Led initial R&D and early product development on several machine-learning systems at the intersection of computer vision, deep learning, 3D geometry descriptors, and traditional (non-deep learning) ML techniques. Established objective metrics, benchmark datasets, and tooling to enable rapid experimentation by ML Engineers. Co-created a machine-learning-based geometric classification and shape-similarity discovery system that has been the entry point for numerous customer POCs and sales leads. Developed a novel 3d model search algorithm based on geometric shape classification of CAD models as part of Physna\'s \"GeoLabel Search\". Oversaw and heavily contributed to development of a \"2d-to-3d\" computer vision system that finds 3d models based on 2d photographs, CAD drawings, and even hand-drawn images. Actively participates in R&D efforts on Physna\'s core search and matching algorithms. Established, organized, manage, and host bi-weekly \"Tech Talks\" for sharing deep dives on Physna system architectures, algorithms, language/tooling best practices, and other tech-audience-focused topics. Speakers are recruited from all over Physna. The talks have contributed significantly to distributed learning across Physna, and recordings of several talks are now regular parts of onboarding for members of the Product Engineering organization.
