About Sean Barnes

Started out as a Jail Officer at the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department Boston, MA. Transferred to the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston-Protection Department, where I guarded bank vaults, money shipments, and security for the British and Japanese Consulates. I spent the first decade of my career leading Marines and Sailors on multiple worldwide deployments to both Middle East/Central Asia combat zones, and aboard Navy ships on the high seas of the Pacific. Along the way, In 2005 I earned the title of Recon Marine, completed training in parachuting, combat diving, and survival. In 2010 my wife Dina and I were married and a few weeks later we both deployed to Afghanistan. Dina served with the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Lashkar-Gah, while I led a Company of Marines in Helmand Valley. After deployment, we were fortunate to be stationed in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. I led the Marine Reserve component for the State of Hawaii while Dina worked for the Hawaii State Legislature. Our next adventure took us to Washington DC where I worked Strategic Policy, advocating for all Marine Corps Reconnaissance units while Dina attended Marine Corps Command and Staff College and worked Policy for Marine Corps Reserve Affairs. In 2018 I was competitively selected to Command 3D Reconnaissance Battalion in Okinawa, Japan. 3D Recon is the Marine Corp’s only forward-deployed clandestine intelligence collection and survey Department. The Marines of 3D Recon Protected President of The United States during historic Peace Summits in North Korea and Vietnam as part of a Joint Interagency Task Force. During our tour, Dina voluntarily deployed to Afghanistan again, this time serving as the Chief Transition Officer of Hamid Karzai Airfield in Kabul. In 2021, after living abroad for over 3+ years, we moved to Tampa, Florida to be closer to family and transition from active duty service. After a successful SkillBridge Fellowship with NeoGenomics Laboratories, I fortunately began my second career with NeoGenomics in January of 2025.
