About Sean Foster

I was premed through my undergrad at UCSB, though a sustainability-focused study abroad in Costa Rica had me reconsider my career path. After graduating and taking time off to travel and reset, I pursued a Master’s degree in agriculture and bioresources at Cal Poly. Since grad school I have published research on controlled environment agriculture, improved the technology and operations for a vertical farming startup, implemented management systems for commercial farms at Granular, scaled the supply and transparency of soil carbon removal credits at Nori, and developed post-fire restoration projects at Mast Reforestation. I now work at Microsoft supporting its carbon removal portfolio — specifically ARR, IFM, Soils, and ERW projects across the globe — as part of Microsoft’s carbon-negative strategy for 2030 and beyond.Outside of work I like to indulge in the great things the SF Bay Area has to offer… surfing, skiing, hiking, biking, you name it. I also love to travel and spend time with loved ones. If we haven\'t already, happy to connect!
