Broad experience as an individual contributor and leader in teams focused on “next generation” concepts in multimedia communication and wireless systems. What excites me are ideas with the potential to significantly change and improve the way we use technology, whether they be toward a noticeable improvement in human communication, or toward something hidden in underlying wireless transmission. My 30+ year background includes many technical aspects, some now deployed in current cellphones and portable devices- Speech/audio coding: Wideband, super-sideband (products, research, standards)- Speech modeling and classification (research)- Mono, stereo and multi-channel echo control (products, novel designs)- Adaptive beamforming, noise suppression and source separation- Processing chains for 2-way speech comm (products)- Digital video coding (pre-HDTV to H.263)(research and product explorations)- Speech and media transmission over 802.11 (research and products)- LTE, SU/MU-MIMO and cellular/hot-spot architectures (research and standards)- Multi-core ARM/DSP architectures for media processing- Channel/Network coding for media TX-ionI have been fortunate to have some of my designs and ideas enter into products and influence standards. Software I have written ran and is running in millions of products such as Sirius and iOS/OS-X. Even as a manager, keeping an eye on the broader picture and mentoring, I have always maintained a strong role as an individual contributor writing code, and developing algorithms and theory.Specialties: Advanced wireless system concepts, LTE-A, acoustic echo control, speech coding, general multimedia coding and systems, wireless transport of multimedia. 802.11, wireless chip-sets.Other: Dozens of publications spanning the above areas. dozens of patents awarded, many under review.
