About Sean Gibson
Here’s how the job description says it: “The Chief of Staff serves as a strategic advisor and right hand to the Managing Partner of the firm. This role is responsible for driving execution of firm-wide priorities, facilitating cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring the smooth operation of the Managing Partner\'s office. The Chief of Staff acts as a trusted liaison between the Managing Partner and firm leadership, attorneys, administrative departments, and external stakeholders. This position plays a key role in coordinating strategic initiatives, managing sensitive communications, and optimizing the firm\'s leadership agenda.”I suppose that’s all true, but stated more simply: I help leaders get important stuff done. That looks different every day. Sometimes it’s identifying and brainstorming solutions to problems that need to be addressed quickly, sometimes it’s drafting strategic communications, sometimes it’s providing advice and counsel, and sometimes it’s rolling up the sleeves and grinding through whatever needs to get done to move the ball forward. And, every once in a while, it’s a well-timed dad joke to lighten the mood (that’s the area in which my colleagues would likely say I have the deepest degree of qualification). I’m incredibly fortunate to work for a brilliant and thoughtful managing partner and with a collaborative group of colleagues who are relentless in finding better ways to do things.Outside of work, I like to write stories. My most recent novel, a comic fantasy called The Part About the Dragon Was (Mostly) True, inexplicably received a starred review from Publishers Weekly and achieved #1 bestseller status on multiple platforms.(People will read anything these days, apparently.)I also coach youth basketball and flag football, which always reminds me that success in team sports and at work requires the same inputs (case in point:
