ABOUT SEAN DEVEREAUX
Sean Devereaux is the Community Engagement Officer for the City of Long Beach. Sean brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in nonprofit administration, community engagement, and volunteer program development. Prior to joining the City of Long Beach, Sean served as the Executive Director of Leadership Long Beach, where he oversaw all business operations, led fundraising initiatives, strengthened alumni engagement, and directed the organization’s signature leadership programs that empower civic participation across the city. Before that, he spent over a decade at the Aquarium of the Pacific as Director of Volunteer Engagement, where he built and managed one of the largest and most successful volunteer programs in the nation, supporting more than 1,500 active volunteers annually. Sean holds a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from Kent State University, with minors in Philosophy and Comparative Religion. His proven track record of coalition-building, equity-centered leadership, and large-scale program delivery, along with his deep commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, make him an exceptional addition to the City Manager’s Office.
