Sean Burke was appointed Chief Financial Officer of CoBank on July 16, 2024. With $200+ billion in assets, CoBank is one of the largest private providers of credit and financial services to the U.S. rural economy. Mr. Burke has over 20 years of experience working with financial institutions both as an investment banker and CFO and was recognized as one of the “10 Best CFOs of 2020” by Industry Era Magazine.Prior to CoBank, Mr. Burke was a Managing Director and Co-Head of Investment Banking for North American Banks at Barclays. From 2015 to 2022, Mr. Burke served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Investors Bancorp (Nasdaq: ISBC) and Investors Bank, a full-service commercial bank operating 150 branches throughout New Jersey and the New York metropolitan area. With $28 billion in assets and an approximate $4 billion market capitalization, Investors Bank ranked as one of the largest banks headquartered in the state of New Jersey and among the top 15 banks operating in the New York metropolitan area. On April 7, 2022, Investors Bank was acquired by Citizens Financial Group.Prior to his CFO role at Investors Bank, Mr. Burke was a Managing Director and Head of U.S. Depository Investment Banking for RBC Capital Markets in New York. Mr. Burke started his career in public accounting, working as a licensed CPA within the financial services audit practice of Ernst & Young.Mr. Burke has worked on a number of complex capital raising and strategic advisory assignments in the banking sector including the sale of Investors Bancorp to Citizens Financial Group; Royal Bank of Canada’s acquisition of City National Bank; Investors Bancorp’s $2.2 billion demutualization equity offering; the sale of Chevy Chase Bank to Capital One Financial; the sale of Riggs National to PNC Financial; the sale of Banknorth Group to TD Bank Financial Group; and Banco do Brasil’s inaugural U.S. acquisition of EuroBank. Mr. Burke holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a BBA in Accounting and Computer Science from the University of Notre Dame.
