About Sean Blaufuss

No two days are the same and that\'s what I love about our work in global health! Over the past few years I\'ve- Supported the development of national strategies in Sierra Leone and Cameroon for the introduction of the RTS,S vaccine using available evidence and global best practices- Interviewed vector control experts (WHO, donors, government officials, implementing partners, and manufacturers to gain insights on navigating the approval and adoption process for new vector control tools- Facilitated capacity strengthening sessions with local government officials and partner staff to build capacity for the public health challenges of today and tomorrow- Worked with team members in Madagascar to develop and implement sustainability approaches for digital and media campaigns that support youth access to SRH information and services and serve as a promotion vehicle for the country\'s priority behaviors outlined in their national Social and Behavior Change Strategy- Designed a strategy to activate a network of griots across Northern Cameroon to share targeted messages to promote seasonal chemoprophylaxis (SMC) and protect children under five from malaria.I\'m a natural communicator and facilitator. I\'ve been tasked with leading weekly calls for my teams for more than five years. I look to engage everyone on the call and use time wisely to move through agendas. Project leadership has trusted me to lead discussions with donors, including difficult conversations where common ground must be found. My life experience makes me comfortable working with stakeholders from all walks of life. I was fortunate to grow up among the orchards in Central Washington, enjoyed college life in Seattle, spent two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in a small village in Western Ghana, and I am now raising my family in Baltimore City. As a first-generation college graduate, I understand the importance of mentors. I\'ve served as a mentor to Johns Hopkins MPH students since 2019 and I enjoy working with team members to support their career ambitions within the project and beyond.As a childhood leukemia survivor and the proud dad of a daughter who happens to have Down Syndrome, I understand the impact of public health programs and research.
