About Seamus Lombardo
I am a researcher focused on geospatial data science for environmental and humanitarian applications. On the Impact and Sustainability Team at Planet Labs PBC, I am focused on applying satellite data to biodiversity conservation, as well as measuring and improving the impact of Planet\'s collaborations with governments, NGOs, and businesses. I am also an independent consultant motivated my projects that combat the climate crisis, protect biodiversity, and uplift historically oppressed and marginalized communities.Previously, I completed my PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT researching remote sensing and integrated complex systems modeling to support sustainable development. Additionally, I have been active in politics and advocacy through my work with as a climate researcher intern at the MA State Senate, Federal Affairs chair of the MIT Graduate Student Council, and a member of the MIT Space Policy Research Group.
