About Brian Gouin

I have been in the security industry in one form or another since 1988. I started right out of college as a \'trunk slammer\' and over the next 12 years built my installation firm up to a fully staffed office with hundreds of clients. In I sold the company and worked with the Department of Justice on a patent for a mobile video surveillance system as well as a few other projects. In 2001 I started an independent security consulting firm specializing in operational & physical security, system design, penetration testing, employee training, workplace violence, personnel supervision, project management, and policies & procedures. During my time as a self employed consultant, I wrote a book Security Design Consulting as well as many security related articles for magazines, and guest chapters in others books. I was fortunate to travel to many parts of the country for client projects as well as speaking engagements. It was my honor to help protect critical infrastructure including government, military, and law enforcement facilities and personnel. In 2016 I began winding down my consulting business and spent time writing a novel The Marijuana Project based loosely on my experience as a virtual security manager for a medical marijuana production facility. In 2017 I officially closed my company so I could spend more time with my family and began working for someone else for the first time in my life. Thanks to the quality of the people at NSC, it has worked out very well.I live in Portland, CT, a small town in the middle of the State, with my beautiful wife Anne and two teenage children. Although I very much enjoyed my travels in my career, I enjoy being home with them more. I also enjoy woodworking, classical movies, and a great dinner out with family or friends.
