As part of the Guzman Lab, conducted extensive wet lab and clinical research on projects related to arterial calcification and atherosclerosis. Also, led an independent senior thesis related to understanding the molecular mechanisms behind medial arterial calcification through the extracellular matrix. Presented research updates at weekly lab meetings and coordinated project goals with mentors and lab managers. Produced a senior thesis and poster through my findings. Wet lab experience involved various in vitro techniques, including cell culturing, siRNA transfections, plasmid electroporation, western blotting, RNA quantification and real time quantitative PCR, and immunohistochemistry staining. Clinical research involved analysis of pedal x-rays and CT angiogram scans for correlation in the quantification of arterial calcification.
