ABOUT SCOTT MILLIGAN

I have over ten years experience within the environment industry, with a broad range of experience including carbon accounting, climate change adaptation and resilience, social value, environmental management, consulting, site experience, governance and authoring of environmental/ESG reports, across a variety of sectors including rail, highways, aviation, construction, buildings, nuclear and renewables.I am currently employed at Caledonian Sleeper, the overnight train service between London and various Scottish locations, as their ESG Manager, where I am responsible for the delivery of our ESG strategy. I authored and lead the overall ESG strategy for the business, engaging with different departments to ensure an environmentally-conscious service for our passengers. Alongside this, I have authored and report on our environmental management plan, various policies and actively engage with the equality networks, both internal and external. I track our emissions per rail period across our whole service, including offices and lounges, and monitor waste reduction projects in terms of food waste and general/mixed waste. I calculate our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions as per the GHG Protocol and report these to Scottish Rail Holdings. I grade new procurement items, required for our services, in terms of their ESG rating to ensure sustainability is embedded within decision making, from beginning to end for our products. I also attend industry events within rail including steering and working groups to help ensure Caledonian Sleeper remains on top of new trends in sustainability. Similarly, I am also responsible for creation and upkeep of our Climate Risk Strategy, considering future potential climate scenarios and the adaptation and resilience we will require to ensure business continuity. I provide input into the Annual Report and TCFD report from an ESG perspective to ensure robust external governance as a public body. I am also responsible for overall delivery of our Social Value endeavours, through tracking performance against our ESG KPIs, ensuring we remain a pillar within our community.I enjoy the breadth of experience working with the ESG space provides, with a keen eye for strategising and identifying improvements areas, and providing actions to meet these objectives.
