About Scott Russell
Scott Russell is the President and CEO of Emboline, Inc. where he leads the development and commercialization of the Emboliner® Embolic Protection Catheter. Mr. Russell has worked in the fields of medical devices, engineering, intellectual property development, marketing, and management for over 30 years. Previous leadership roles included President and CEO of SeptRx, Inc, a cardiovascular device company developing a novel device for the treatment of the heart defect known as patent foramen ovale (PFO), and interim CEO of SuperRenal, an early-stage company developing a novel technology to enhance kidney function for prevention of contrast-induced nephropathy from interventional procedures and for long-term therapeutic benefit. He was the Director of Advanced Device Concepts at Cordis/NDC (a Johnson & Johnson Company) in the early where he led numerous medical device development and clinical research activities in a variety of fields including cardiology, interventional neuroradiology, orthopedics, minimally invasive surgery, stroke, drug delivery, pulmonology, and gynecology. He led the commercialization of four products, including the SMARTeR stent, the TrapEase vena cava filter, the OptEase removable vena cava filter and the Enterprise neurovascular stent. He also spearheaded the spin-off of two companies from Johnson & Johnson—Portaero, Inc, an interventional pulmonology company, and SeptRx, Inc, which he subsequently led as its first CEO. Mr. Russell is a recognized international expert in Nitinol technology and medical device applications and is a past Chairman of the International Society of Shape Memory and Superelastic Technologies. He is a prolific inventor with over 80 issued or granted patents on medical devices and advanced alloys, and he has published more than 20 papers in numerous medical and scientific journals and conference proceedings.
