ABOUT SCOTT RUSHTON

I’m a design leader with 20+ years’ experience helping organisations use design to create meaningful change — for their customers, their teams, and their business.I’ve worked across agencies and consultancies, partnering with global brands including HSBC, Nationwide, NS & I, Johnson & Johnson, Unilever and Volkswagen. Trained as a UX and product designer, I’ve spent my career working closely with engineering, product, research, content and delivery teams, giving me a broad, practical understanding of what it really takes to build great digital products at scale. In recent years, my focus has been on complex enterprise environments, where design maturity, operating models and culture matter as much as the interface itself. I’m passionate about clearly articulating the value of design at leadership level — connecting customer outcomes to commercial impact — and about building high-performing, inclusive design teams and communities that can thrive in challenging organisations.I’ve led large, distributed teams, set design vision and standards, modernised platforms, and helped organisations embed design as a strategic capability rather than a service.Currently, I am the Executive Design Director and Design Principal at IBM in the UK. I’m motivated by opportunities where design can shape strategy, influence decision-making, and create products and services that genuinely improve people’s day-to-day lives.
