ABOUT SCOTT P MONTOPOLI

I have over 26-years of experience serving clients across all industries with their U.S. corporate and international tax planning and reporting. I served in leadership roles directly contributing to managing and growing the business, along with recruiting and developing professionals of all levels. My focus is to drive value through advising on the U.S. federal income tax consequence of key operational and strategic business matters along with the resulting financial statement implications.I am a tax attorney, but I learned financial accounting in school and my many years on the job in Big 4 firms. In addition to regularly providing qualitative and quantitative tax advice, I have a deep understanding of the tax reporting function for both compliance and ASC 740. I do frequent tax modeling related to proposed operating models, legal structures, M&A transactions, and tax law changes. In addition, I regularly prepare extensive step-plans and technical analyses on discrete issues as well as proposed and executed transactions in slide decks and detailed tax technical memoranda or “opinions” to support deals and the tax return file. Finally, I manage and oversee the tax reporting process for domestic and international information returns as well as provision preparation and review engagements for clients in various industries, ensuring that the planning and deal outcomes are correctly reflected in the tax forms and the financials.I can viably communicate with relevant business stakeholders at the level and in the way they understand and approach tax matters. I grew up in a client-centric environment and I know exceeding expectations requires round-the-clock attention, great listening skills, and strong collaboration to achieve optimal results.
