About Scott Pitz
I am passionate about leveraging my data science and research skills to help solve the hard problems facing the environment and society. As a Data Scientist at Forerunner, I developed machine learning products to help communities better understand their flood risks using geospatial data to create granular risk assessments.My PhD research focused on understanding greenhouse gas emissions from common trees. To measure these pervasive but minute emissions I built custom field hardware and used machine learning, IoT sensors, and high precision methane and carbon dioxide instruments.
