About Scott Newland
As the Infrastructure Market Leader for Burns & McDonnell, I oversee the firm’s Water, Transportation and Environmental Services Groups, helping to leverage collective knowledge in related markets to create essential synergies and efficiencies. In my career, I led multiple billion+ programs through the planning, permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases. I have the ability to manage large-scale complex projects and teams. This experience has led to responsibilities in business development and operations management at Burns & McDonnell. Since joining Burns & McDonnell in as a structural engineer in the Transmission & Distribution group, I’ve developed an extensive background in electric transmission.I live in Chicago with my wife and three children. I enjoy golf, and participating in cycling events such as the Pan Mass Challenge, an annual 190-mile ride through Massachusetts to raise funds for cancer research. My current community outreach includes supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and United Way Tocqueville Society. I’m also committed to kindling children’s interest in STEM education through various partnerships aimed at promoting STEM curriculum in public school classrooms. I love helping our customers solve problems and helping employee-owners achieve their full potential. Throughout my years with Burns & McDonnell, I’ve been fortunate enough to have served in a variety of roles across the country including program manager responsible for the management of the New England East-West Solution (NEEWS) program within Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. NEEWS is a $1.5 billion electric transmission program including new 345-kV transmission circuits and upgrades to 115-kV circuits.I also served as project manager for two years, where I was charged with overseeing the 345-kV XLPE underground transmission portion of the 345-kV Middletown to Norwalk Project.I started my career in Kansas City, Missouri, as a structural engineer and then transferred to many locations around the country: Virginia for 2 years, Connecticut for 6 years, Kansas City for 6 years, and then Chicago since 2012.
