ABOUT SCOTT HARRISON

I work at the intersection of Indigenous governance, Canada-Asia relations, and global policy and innovation, bridging cultures, connecting partners and stakeholders, and translating complex challenges into actionable solutions. What I Do I specialize in Canada-Asia cross-cultural dialogue (particularly Japan) and Indigenous-led research, supporting policymakers and organizations navigating the evolving landscape of reconciliation, Indigenous engagement, and Indo-Pacific partnerships. My work spans academia, government, business, and civil society, building institutional partnerships, informing policy, and facilitating dialogue grounded in mutual respect and strategic foresight and insight. How I Lead I bring a collaborative, human-centric and mentorship-driven approach rooted in cultural awareness. Whether facilitating intercultural dialogue, advising on sovereignty issues, or translating research into strategy, I focus on building team cohesion and driving shared success through clear communication and solutions-focused thinking. Business and Innovation In addition to policy and research, I collaborate with businesses across various sectors, including energy, innovation, and trade, to identify opportunities and navigate challenges in engaging with Indo-Pacific markets. From advising on cross-cultural engagement to supporting strategic decision-making, I help companies act with insight and integrity. I work at the nexus of academia, business, government, and civil society.Beyond Policy As a Sattva Climbing Ambassador/Athlete, I\'ve spent over 30 years in the climbing community, certified in instruction and safety, and have led workshops and guided climbers for two decades. The lessons of risk assessment, curiosity, collaboration, continual focused improvement, and resilience directly inform my approach to leadership and problem-solving.
