About Scott Milder
K-12 Education Market Leader @ VLK Architects, Friends of Texas Public Schools Founder, and former candidate for Texas Lt. Governor. Scott and his wife Leslie are the founders of Friends of Texas Public Schools, a 501c(3) nonprofit organization committed to educating Texans about the strengths and achievements of Texas public schools… and there are plenty! The Milders founded Friends in 2004 in response to the incessant, oftentimes mean-spirited criticism leveled against our Texas public schools with little if any recognition for the incredible achievements of students and educators. For example, Did you know Texas consistently ranks among the top five states in high school graduation rates? True story! Scott began his professional career as a newspaper reporter and photographer, then served two different school districts as public information officer. Scott has invested the last 22 years of his career in the educational architecture industry and currently serves as a Principal and K-12 Market Leader for VLK Architects. In 2013, Scott was elected to the Rockwall City Council and served two terms. Then, in 2018, Milder ran for Lieutenant Governor in the Republican Primary to pressure the incumbent to focus his political priorities on properly funding public education and providing Texans with property tax relief.Scott earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Texas. The Milder’s live in Rockwall with their three teenagers and are members of Lake Pointe Church.
