1. Senior Software Engineer

   In this role, I transitioned into media application development solely for the upcoming Disney streaming service. I worked on publicly undisclosed application prototypes and user experiences for the PlayStation 4. As the design work became more clear and our leadership established a brand, look and feel; I continued to mature our prototype application into a viable production application. I worked with a team of 5, building significant portions of the user experience for what became the Disney+ PlayStation 4 application. I created newer, cleaner design patterns and abstractions for separating style and animation data from components and other business logic. I worked on implementing services, landing views, account management, sign-up and onboarding features for new users. We were ultimately able to ship the Disney+ application for PlayStation 4 as a very stable app at launch. I continued to work on two subsequent rewrites of the Disney+ application, ultimately transitioning to a framework utilizing the Rust programming language. This change allowed us to ship the same app to low powered devices such as cable boxes. As our company and team size grew, I worked more specifically on application launch and onboarding features. I implemented our “deeplink” specification which allows various tiles on Sony’s PlayStation consoles to launch our application directly to specific titles or landing pages within the application. I am currently working closely with the design team to help us mature our application patterns and practices within the Rust programming language. I am working to help develop better abstractions in our application in order to separate various design concerns from business logic within our current codebase.
