ABOUT SCOTT HUMMEL

I am a senior PHP and Javascript developer. Previously I was co-owner, senior developer and director of web development at Copper Star Digital, a new start-up, which specialized in Laravel websites under my leadership. In my various roles, I was both responsible for writing the code as well as making the technology decisions for our company. I also built two hybrid Laravel/VueJS websites, one of which was bilingual. Before that I was a web developer at Spear Education, a Scottsdale-based dental education company. At Spear, I have worked on a variety of their Zend Framework websites, performing mostly back-end, but some front-end tasks. My primary responsibility is to build new features and fix bugs on the existing websites. Spear is a fast-paced, data-driven environment where quality counts. As part of that, I wrote flexible, robust SQL queries to display data from the website in our administrative module. I built a dental education module order tracking system to help staff manage orders. Many of the systems I built were for data reporting, displayed in CMS managers, where data could be viewed and manipulated. I also built an intranet for our company, for managing leave requests, tracking and managing company documents and displaying a company calendar. Prior to that, I was a web developer at Universal Laser Systems, where I have worked from July 2010 to March 2013. I developed several PHP websites in the CodeIgniter and Laravel frameworks, one of them with a custom content management system. The global website implements about 75 percent of the entire CodeIgniter framework, so I am familiar with or have used most of it. The global website is driven from a database, where I have stored all of the copy in 13 different languages so a localized site is served based on the URL. I also have company-specific localized versions of our website for the channel partners.
