Scott Masters : Ag Commodity Market and Derivatives Expert. My passion for the markets and desire to \"put my money where my mouth is\"​ led me to the Chicago Board of Trade and the fast paced environment of futures and options trading. Many of my experiences as a runner and trader\'s assistant, in both the financial markets and the agricultural markets provided the foundation for my career. I learned risk analysis and management very early on because it was essential to my survival. My career grew from humble beginnings, with backing from my mentor, and enough capital to cover 1 year of expenses, not including any potential losses. I survived that first year and I continued to hone my risk management skills while learning others along the way. Such as collaborating with other members in my market to create a more liquid marketplace for our customers, working with exchange staff to add and adjust specific contracts to facilitate trade in extreme market conditions, and how to interact with seasoned major market players as well as novice participants to achieve mutually beneficial agreements. From the Chicago Board of Trade, I moved to a country elevator in eastern Iowa to gain experience in the cash grain market. While at Farmers Elevator I was responsible for much of the Grain division; guiding producers through their grain marketing challenges, purchase and sales of all company owned grain with requisite administrative duties, risk management, as well as managing all logistics for contract fulfillment. In this next phase of my career, I am taking my unique experience in the grain derivatives, and cash markets, and applying it in a commodity management role to help producers mitigate their inherent market exposure, and help with their grain marketing activities.
