ABOUT SCOTT WATTIGNY

My name is Scott Wattigny. I serve as the Athletic Director/Head Football Coach at Catholic High Of New Iberia. I also teach sophomore level Theology. I am entering into my tenth year in education and coaching at the high school level. I have held various coaching titles and teaching positions over the last nine years. I have a passion for teaching/coaching, and my sole purpose is to impact and influence the people that surround me. I am a devout Catholic, and I do my best to integrate the teachings of Jesus Christ in my profession and my personal life. I consider myself as a leader, and my goal is to develop other leaders. My leadership motto is mentor-leader. My leadership style is a mix between transformational leadership and servant leadership. I want to transform and inspire those I am surrounded by or in charge of and I do this by putting their self-interest above my own. My motto is I am Third. Which stands for God is first, Family is second, and I am Third. This motto is the crux of my life. Every aspect of my life revolves around these principles. I make decisions in my personal and my professional life based on these three steps.I am born and raised in New Orleans Louisiana. I graduated from Holy Cross High School in 2005. Holy Cross is a Catholic all-boys institution. I then continued my education and athletic career at Northwestern State University. I graduated with a bachelors degree in Liberal Arts and graduated with honors (cum laude). I was a four-time letterman in the sport of football and played on the defensive line. I was an academic all-conference player, an academic all-district player, and an academic all American finalist. I earned the most prestigious award given to a football player, called the “Jack Clayton Award.” The award was given to a player based on athletic play, academics, leadership, and integrity. I was also selected as one of the player representatives to the hiring committee to choose a new head coach my senior year.
