As Chief Medical Officer at Eon, my primary objective is to embed clinical excellence and validity into all aspects of the company — including product development, engineering, and data science. Our daily work ensures that our deployment is clinically relevant, actively improves patients\' lives, and delivers on Eon\'s mission to give them \"more tomorrows.\" I also oversee our clinical research pipeline, which guarantees our solutions provide tangible value, and that we continuously integrate customer feedback to boost performance, improve adherence and outcomes, and enhance communication with patients and healthcare systems.My career, since completing my pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Yale University in 2004, has been dedicated to improving lung cancer outcomes. Initially, this focus was procedural; I was an early adopter of advanced techniques like endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) bronchoscopy for mediastinal staging and navigational bronchoscopy, which significantly increased diagnostic yields over traditional methods.The crucial shift came in 2012 when I co-developed one of the nation\'s first system-wide incidental pulmonary nodule tracking programs. This was a realization that procedural technology alone was insufficient to truly impact lung cancer outcomes. Patients needed to be systematically captured and tracked to ensure everyone received an optimized opportunity for care.By integrating fast-evolving procedural technology with a robust tracking and follow-up mechanism, I successfully demonstrated better follow-up adherence, a faster care continuum, and a significant stage shift in lung cancer, leading to a much higher percentage of patients being eligible for curative intent therapy. Following the success of the lung cancer programs I helped build and lead in both Wisconsin and North Carolina, I sought to expand my impact nationwide, leading me to Eon.My experience as a physician highlighted a critical gap: most hospitals lacked the capability to track patients systematically. Eon\'s solutions bridge this gap, allowing us to profoundly impact the communities we serve by guaranteeing follow-up for every patient, regardless of their ability to navigate the complex healthcare system. Our strength at Eon lies in our unwavering dedication to our mission, ensuring all decisions align with the goal of making healthcare more affordable and accessible for all patients.
