Denver, CO, US

The Denver Chapter of Trout Unlimited draws it support from the city’s downtown and northern suburbs. We have a membership that is diverse in terms of age and interests. DTU espouses and promotes the mission of Trout Unlimited to preserve, protect and restore North America’s cold water fisheries and their watersheds. DTU sponsors presentations about Colorado fishing and environmental concerns during chapter meetings. This is Denver Colorado and a river runs through it. The South Platte was once a sparkling gem issuing from the foothills of the Rockies. It was home to indigenous fish and wildlife and a resource for native plains peoples. Today it has degraded to a flood control and irrigation conduit. DTU has adopted a long term goal to turn this last unreclaimed major Colorado river into an asset for the city of Denver and its citizens. Our objective is to restore aquatic and riparian habitat thus making the river a recreational destination and a refuge for fish and wildlife.

ABOUT SCOTT SCHREIBER

I am an accomplished professional engineer integrating a technical engineering background with environmental aspects and landscape architecture to bridge the gaps in water resource engineering to allow for a more holistic design approach between disciplines.I have proven success in efficiently working with a number of private, governmental, and non-profit organizations throughout planning, permitting and implementation. My engineering career over the past 20 years has spanned from ski and golf resort design projects to World Monument sites to river restoration, stormwater design, floodplain management, water quality modeling and more. I have resided as a board member for the CWCB South Platte Metro Roundtable, Denver U.S. Ski Team Advisory Board and the Denver Trout Unlimited Board. I have a diverse background in dealing with surface water hydrology and hydraulics, groundwater supply and water quality monitoring, environmental impact analyses and evaluations with actual design engineering capabilities and geographical information systems applications.
