ABOUT SCOTT MCGINN

I started off in Students’ Union marketing and communications, answering the call of creativity, writing, and project delivery, all of which were intended to help make student life better. Along the way, I picked up additional skills in customer research, data analysis, and report writing, and managed whole teams.When marketing lost its meaningful edge and became more like sales, I took the research function with me into another department, where I was deputy to the manager; this varied role was all about representation, change and impact. It was at this point that I realised any work I did had to make a difference in itself, or at least contribute to larger making-a-difference efforts. I am someone who likes to develop my knowledge and skills, having accessed a large amount of training, recently and throughout my career; I have invested a lot of time and effort into moving up, doing more, and growing professionally, and at every turn I have made a point of remembering that I want to be a part of making a difference, one way or another. With a range of skills and experiences, my professional attention is on fundraising, marketing, strategy and relationships. I am also interested in impact, change, and organisational development, in the contexts of data, equality and diversity, policies and procedures, culture, and training.Quietly, I am a poet, writer, editor, sketcher, and dancer.
