About Scott Lloyd
I have spent over 16 years counseling companies on a variety of business matters, both in-house and in private practice, with specializations in intellectual property and regulatory counseling and transactions. My favorite clients are entrepreneurial companies who come to me for comprehensive legal advice on a variety of matters that fall within my expertise. I enjoy learning about new technologies and advising clients on protecting their intellectual properties in ways that best advance their business objectives, and forming lasting relationships with key business leaders. My approach is always focused on listening to clients\' ideas and concerns and helping them find strategic solutions for advancing their business objectives, be it through licensing, partnerships or exit strategies, among others. I enjoy working with people at many levels within my client organizations and enjoy partnering with technology developers to identify protectable assets and ways to commercialize new products and monetize intellectual properties through licensing and other business transactions. My work style is relaxed and focused on making sure clients understand my advice and are comfortable following it. Outside my profession I enjoy entrepreneurial opportunities of my own and helping my friends and family become the best people they can be. For recreation I play as much tennis and golf as I can squeeze in and coach youth sports with my children. I have also been playing the guitar for many years and at one point tried to make it a profession - then we ran out of money and went back to our day jobs, and in my case, law school. My wife is a government attorney and I draw on her experience with regard to many issues that come up for businesses that are outside my day to day practice. My services are quite affordable for a patent attorney in the DC metropolitan area, and most of my clients are small to mid-sized businesses focusing on technology development and growth. My industries served include biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cybersecurity and data privacy, food businesses, cannabis, allied chemical industries, the music industry, and just about any other type of marketplace I can understand with reasonable proficiency. Nothing satisfies me professionally as much as winning a new corporate clients and developing relationships within those organizations that turn into friendships. I have an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoy helping promote my clients and keeping my practice agile, never being afraid to tackle new areas as the law develops.
