About Scott Granfeldt
Licensed Attorney having obtained my Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law in May of 2022. I kicked off my legal career with a boutique firm in downtown Chicago that focused on plaintiff federal civil rights § 1983 litigation and general commercial litigation throughout the state and the country.I am a first-generation lawyer that has a desire to solve complex problems and to help those who are at their lowest point and - most importantly - those who are in need of a fierce advocate. I pride my early success in my strong legal writing skills, oral advocacy, research skills, and a strong passion for our criminal justice system. I have responded to multiple motions for summary judgment in death cases, police shooting cases, fatal police chase cases, and breach of contract cases in Federal Court, among many others. I also have experience in preparing lead counsel drafting an appellee brief and oral argument in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Most recently, I was heavily involved in settling a state court wrongful death case in Illinois state court through private mediation that resulted in a seven-figure settlement. At my current practice, I was lead counsel and filed two Responses to motions for summary judgment in federal court for civil rights violations.My practice currently focuses on federal & state criminal defense, federal civil rights litigation, personal injury, family law, and general commercial litigation for our corporate clients.
