Transitioning from being a Health Care Operations Expert to an Expert in the Vintage Sewing Machine space seems like an odd pivot at first glance, but it really isn\'t. A major factor influencing this pivot, was a shift that occurred around 2009 within Senior Living, that pushed RN\'s into dual roles of Executive Director & Director of Wellness. This movie was motivated by profit driven companies and shareholder pressure. The result was the opportunity to serve strictly as an operations expert, all but dried up, and many of us were eliminated from the equation. Companies later found, that many nurses were not equipped for the leadership and organizational responsibilities of managing the full scope of an operation, and many of those operations spell out of substantial compliance, resulting in state sanctions and fines.I think it\'s fair to say that the bulk of us that have worked in healthcare immediately point to their love of residents or patients they\'ve served. That senior\'s life experience is mind blowing, their spectacular stories of tragedy and triumph, their zest for life through unbelievably difficult circumstances, and their simple and lasting love of friends and family.I have the privilege to spend significant time with many of these seniors, their families, and through my unique niche work and skillset, preserve a lasting memory of times gone by. A sewing machine with a depth of history, stories, passion, and love, that to that individual and family is a lasting tribute and heirloom to be celebrated now, and by future generations. Sure, I don\'t currently make as much money as I did in healthcare, but with the rate of growth in my business, it will far exceed that soon. Most would agree as we grow older, we realize money is way down the list of what\'s really important. Giving back, showing kindness, and preserving treasures that carry a story and legacy, that\'s the good stuff, and I do it every day, one sewing machine at a time.
