As Chief Data Officer for Littler – the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management – I direct the creation of data-driven solutions that improve business functions and add value for clients. I also lead a cross-functional data governance program, manage a team of data scientists, and oversee how the firm identifies, captures, classifies, maintains, and applies data and information.My role as Chief Data Officer is the latest in more than 10 years spent developing data-driven solutions to improve delivery of legal services and enhance operational efficiency. In 2010, I founded Littler CaseSmart®, drawing on proprietary technology, innovative staffing models and project management best practices to reengineer the process of handling employment litigation. That same combination of tools and processes served as the inspiration for Littler onDemand, launched in 2019 as a data-driven solution for delivering employment law advice and counsel.To support the continued expansion of Littler’s data ecosystem, I also led development of VirtualBinder. A first-of-its-kind case management and data collection system, VirtualBinder is a technology platform for managing litigation that streamlines internal processes, increases consistency and provides data-driven insights.My passion for innovation is informed by my nearly 30 years of experience as a litigator and advisor. I have represented clients in jury trials, class actions, appeals, and arbitrations, and provided counsel across a wide-range of employment matters. With each innovation, I’ve aimed to add value to our high-quality legal services while also delivering critical data analytics and insights to help clients identify trends, manage risk and drive stronger business decisions.In addition to my work as Chief Data Officer, I am a member of Littler’s Board of Directors and a founding member of the firm’s Innovation Advisory Council. I consistently monitor trends in data analytics, legal operations and innovation in the legal industry, and have been quoted and published in such outlets as ABA Journal, American Lawyer, Bloomberg Law, Corporate Counsel, Forbes, Harvard Business Review and Today’s General Counsel.
