Scott Flora is a Partner with USI Insurance Services’ Employee Benefits Practice located in Richmond, VA. Scott has the privilege of working with many CEO’s, CFO’s, COO’s and Senior Human Resource Professionals to develop long-term strategic direction for their employee benefit plans. He brings over 30 years of experience in working closely with business owners and executives. Scott takes personal pride in gaining an in-depth understanding of his customer\'s goals, employee culture and providing a business model to exceed client needs. Scott is very effective in assessing the cost/benefit of company health and welfare plans and identifying opportunities for improvement.Scott began his career as an asset-based lending banker and was introduced into the insurance industry in 1984. Banking allowed Scott particularly good insights to learn what was important to his customers. He quickly understood his customers need to control costs to operate profitably which allows them to take good care of their employees. This approach made the insurance industry a natural fit for Scott’s career. Prior to USI, Scott served as a Senior Sales Account Executive with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and later joined Slabaugh, Morgan, White where he quickly became a principal owner. Fueled by continual growth, Slabaugh Morgan White merged with Palmer & Cay Consulting, Wachovia Insurance Services, Wells Fargo Insurance and now USI Insurance Services over a 25-year period. Scott’s best achievements to-date are his relationship with his family and helping his clients develop effective strategies to mitigate their health insurance risk and improve overall costs.Scott received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA. Scott is a member of The National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU); The Richmond Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM); The Fredericksburg Chapter of SHRM; is a proud Founding supporter of Richmond’s Encorepreneur Program which promotes leaders, learners, explorers, creators and builders of new business opportunities and personal accomplishments. He also served a full 7-year term on the Board of Directors for Challenge Discovery Projects making a difference in the Richmond community for disadvantaged youth.Scott lives in Richmond with his wife Debbie and is the proud father of three sons.
