About Scott Erickson

My ultimate career goal is to help businesses win…and have long term success. When I was a child I was always interested in STEM and the underlying principles of how things worked. This led me to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. My first few jobs out of school I worked as a Process Engineer supporting the production processes in various industries (Automotive, Steel, Aerospace, and Food Processing). I applied my engineering skills to consistently improve the lines and processes I was responsible for, which is how I defined success. I soon learned that to be successful I needed much more than a strong technical knowledge of the physical science behind the process I was running; I also needed a better understanding of people and organizational leadership skills, as well as an increased knowledge of production and business systems best practices. The former knowledge gaps led me to dive into leadership and business books and eventually back to school to get my MBA. The latter had me engross myself into the world of continuous improvement: Theory of Constraints, Six Sigma and Lean. I eventually become certified as a Lean practitioner, Six Sigma black belt and on the Shingo principles through the Shingo Institute. I evolved into a zealot for these principles because the businesses who were applying them best were the ones leading in their industries and I believed these were true principles. In my career I have learned a lot about those principles and the growth they drive in business and have been able to be a part of numerous of high functioning businesses. I am thoroughly convinced that organizations win by being better at learning and improving than their competitors. That in every aspect, when every department, every function, and every person strives to be world class at what they do and most importantly strives to be better today than yesterday, every day. My goal is to be aligned with an organization that shares that vision and rise to have continuously greater influence on helping that organization win…and keep winning for a long, sustained amount of time.
