Scott is a founding partner of Gunderson Dettmer, and retired from the practice as Partner Emeritus at the beginning of 2023. Scott\'s practice focused on the representation of fast-growing private and public companies in the technology and life sciences industries. Scott also advised a wide range of venture funds and growth equity funds in their investment transactions, and has extensive experience in public and private financings, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance.Scott has been recognized as one of the top IT and venture lawyers in the Global Counsel Chambers\' The World\'s Leading Lawyers, and The Best Lawyers in America, and by San Jose Magazine and San Francisco Magazine as one of the top securities lawyers in Silicon Valley. Scott was chosen as one of the Twelve Dealmakers of the Year by The American Lawyer in 1998, was named Lawyer of the Year in San Francisco by The Best Lawyers in America for venture capital and for leveraged buyouts and private equity, is listed as one of the 500 attorneys on Legal 500\'s Hall of Fame in the United States, and is a Lawdragon Hall of Fame honoree for 2024.Scott also served as a member of the Board of Directors of KQED, Inc, the Northern California public media station, from 2008 through 2015, and as a member of the nominating committee of the KQED Board of Directors from 2015 to 2020.
