ABOUT SCOTT CAMERON
I’m an Operational Station Manager with nearly a decade of experience leading teams in the fire and rescue sector. My focus is on delivering safe, effective incident response and developing the people and systems that support operational excellence. In my current role, I provide tactical leadership at incidents—either by assuming command or supporting junior commanders through coaching and mentoring. I believe leadership is about enabling others to perform under pressure, not just directing action. Beyond the incident ground, I’ve led on policy development, strategic risk assessment, and the design of learning systems that reduce risk at both tactical and strategic levels. I’ve managed operational delivery teams and worked alongside high-hazard industries and other emergency services to build resilient, collaborative ways of working. For two years, I worked at a national level with strategic partners and senior stakeholders, advising on policy and safety improvements. I helped shape guidance that embedded learning into organisational practice, including multi-agency lessons with direct impact on fire and rescue operations. I’m passionate about human performance, decision-making under pressure, and understanding how people operate—individually and as teams—in critical environments. I believe the best operational systems are built around people, not the other way around.
