ABOUT SCHYVONNE ROSS

Hello, my name is Schyvonne Ross, and I am an award winning educator and DEI practitioner. Over the last decade I have developed and honed my DEI and leadership expertise, which has led to opportunities where I have:* served as Chairperson for the School Board’s Citizen Advisory Committee on Equity and Inclusion since 2021 where I am currently leading the process of creating a tool to evaluate Board policy through a lens of equity * provided professional development to senior leaders on cultural competency * been featured on a podcast with the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio about my partnership and Inclusive Innovation work with Digital Promise * co-developed and co-edited professional development/training modules to support teachers with becoming more culturally competent and inclusive * co-led a team of school and community stakeholders as we co-designed a solution to prepare teachers to facilitate lessons and dialogue around racial equity and social justice * been a panelist at The Ohio State University’s Equity and Diversity Conference for Educators * presented on co-leadership, co-design, context expertise, and our Inclusive Innovation Process and Solution at Digital Promise’s Inaugural Inclusive Innovation Convening in Los Angeles, CA * received the inaugural George J. Stebout Juneteenth Legacy Award for my contributions in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Reynoldsburg Community * been interviewed and featured in the article, “Can Columbus’ Suburban Schools Become More Inclusive?” in the May 2021 issue of Columbus Monthly Magazine * starred in, along with some of my former students, a documentary about race and racism in school filmed by The National Education Association & Visually Speaking * received the Reynoldsburg City Schools Fellowship Award for teachers that go above and beyond (2018 & 2020)* created, designed the curriculum for, and taught Reynoldsburg City Schools first African-American literature course * implemented systems and supports that led to a 61% increase in honor roll achievement for students at a lock-down rehabilitation center for young men in my first 60 days on the job. I model servant leadership. I’m a data-based decision maker. I am an innovator and a creator. I value building productive, professional relationships.
