About Schuyler Thompson

Currently, I\'m an SDE on the Amazon EC2 Nucleus team, which is part of the EC2 Networking organization. We implement the data plane for VPC (https://aws.amazon.com/vpc/). I graduated in May 2013 with a degree in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. At Case, I was deeply involved in the Undergraduate Student Government, where I was the Vice President of Information Technology my Sophomore year. In this position, I lead a team of approx 5 students, and we both completely modernized the look and feel of the USG website. We also helped implement CollegiateLink, a system that allows all student groups on campus to connect with the student body more effectively. The Hacker Society was another group I was a member of. We meet weekly to discuss different computer science topics. For example, Hadoop, exploiting a buffer overflow vulnerability, and Erlang have been some of the topic presented.I was also involved in Formula SAE Hybrid. This is a competition to build a race car with a hybrid drivetrain. I was most heavily involved with the embedded control software aspect. The team was disbanded after the 20••••10 school year.Specialties: Linux and POSIX development, embedded software engineering, massive reliable scalable systems.
