ABOUT RICHARD SCHROEDER
With more than 20 years in education leadership across K-12, higher education, and national nonprofits, I now serve as Chief Education Programming Officer at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute, where I oversee a four-pillar education department spanning civic leadership, scholarships, digital learning, and civil discourse. Since joining the Foundation, I have helped scale programs from regional to national and international reach, with engagement across all 50 states and multiple countries. Key initiatives under my leadership include the Great American Leadership Program (in partnership with Pepperdine University), the Ronald Reagan Digital Leadership Simulation, the Ronald Reagan Debate Series, and civil discourse curriculum adopted by DoDEA schools serving military-connected students worldwide. Our team has achieved a tenfold increase in program participation and a 200% increase in development funding during this period. Earlier in my career, I served as a superintendent, chief academic officer, national partner at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and senior leader at the Center for Model Schools. I have taught graduate-level leadership courses at the University of Wyoming and Wheaton College and hold an Ed.D. in Educational Policy and Organizational Leadership from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I am also a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach and operate a consulting practice supporting school districts and mission-driven organizations in strategic planning and leadership development. I welcome connections with education leaders, policymakers, foundation partners, and anyone working at the intersection of civic learning and institutional impact.
