Over the past 15 years, I\'ve helped organizations turn complex challenges into actionable strategies that drive results.At the Department of Defense, I developed a data strategy to support U.S. Central Command\'s objective of defense-in-depth against one-way attack drones. We demonstrated the rapid deployment of new sensors without costly integration contracts through the use of open architectures and modern developer tools.At Civis Analytics, I helped the Robin Hood Foundation connect people with $15 million in public benefits. I used novel data and research methods to develop an actionable plan to reach eligible non-participants in anti-poverty programs, and I briefed 200 partners on insights to build support for a data-driven outreach campaign.For the State of Illinois, I increased participation in the Illinois college savings program by 40 percent. I designed and conducted A/B tests and other experiments to optimize targeting and messaging, resulting in marketing campaigns 4.4 times more effective than previous efforts.Before becoming a data scientist, I worked in the nonprofit sector leading advocacy campaigns. I learned how to influence policy outcomes over which I had no direct authority and how to be effective in lean and scrappy environments.My approach focuses on understanding the core challenges of a business, assembling a coalition of the willing to tackle problems, rapidly delivering data solutions that create immediate impact, and building the capacity of the organization to continue the work.
