ABOUT SAYONI DAS

Bioinformatician turned product leader. Twelve years building computational tools, pipelines, and platforms at the intersection of functional genomics, drug discovery, and precision medicine. Currently leading bioinformatics at PrecisionLife, a TechBio company - managing a team of six and acting as the bridge between data science, biology, and commercial teams across drug discovery and healthcare applications. In practice: owning the computational biology product roadmap, delivering AI-driven multi-omics analysis across 40+ diseases including neurodegenerative, autoimmune, and cardiometabolic conditions, and driving commercial projects. Before this, at UCL I coordinated a pioneering structural bioinformatics resource integrating data from 20+ academic groups worldwide. My research on protein function prediction ranked Top 5 globally across three consecutive CAFA benchmarking competitions - giving me a strong foundation in machine learning approaches to structure-function relationships that underpins my current work in disease biology. The thread running through all of it: using computational approaches to make sense of complex biological data - from protein function prediction at UCL, to precision medicine platforms and drug discovery today.Writing about bioinformatics and product thinking at https://substack.com/@sayonidas
