Description:As part of my Master of Public Administration & Public Policy at Cornell University’s Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy, I serve as an Economic Development & Strategy Consultant for the United Nations Office of the Special Advisor on Africa (UN OSAA). In this role, I provide high-level analytical and advisory support to advance sustainable development, economic sovereignty, and durable peace across Africa, directly contributing to UN OSAA’s mandate of implementing Agenda 2063 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.Key Contributions- Strategic Policy Formulation: Develop high-level policy recommendations and analytical frameworks for UN OSAA to reposition natural resources as engines for sustainable development, economic sovereignty, and durable peace in Africa- Economic & Governance Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of extractive industries, critical mineral value chains, and land-use models to identify pathways for value addition, job creation, and equitable wealth distribution- Evidence-Based Advisory: Synthesize quantitative data, case studies, and stakeholder research to produce actionable insights that directly inform the UN Secretary-General\'s 2026 Report on Durable Peace and Sustainable Development- Stakeholder & Systems Mapping: Map institutional landscapes and key actors across African nations to analyze governance gaps and opportunities for strategic intervention in line with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and climate action goals- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and engage with UN officials, policymakers, and sector experts to validate strategic approaches and translate complex research into executive briefs and policy communications

Sayidcali Ahmed is a second-year Master of Public Administration student at Cornell University’s Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy, concentrating in Economic and Financial Policy with a certificate in Infrastructure Finance and Policy Management. He brings a unique and powerful blend of global institutional experience and grassroots leadership, having worked at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and led community-based programs supporting immigrant and refugee families in Minnesota. His distinguished academic journey includes a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Global and Transnational Studies from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. As a MasterCard Foundation Scholar, he earned multiple honors including the prestigious Winston Churchill Awards and consistent Dean’s List recognition. His academic excellence is further affirmed by his membership in Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, and the Order of the Sword & Shield, the National Honor Society for Homeland Security, Intelligence, and Protective Services. Sayidcali also completed the highly selective Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Fellowship at Princeton University, where he received intensive training in economic policy, data analysis, and strategic problem-solving. Professionally, his interests span economic development, infrastructure finance, and public affairs. Proficient in Stata, R, Python, and SQL, and skilled in policy analysis, he aims to bridge global institutions and the private sector.
