About Savvy Andrews
Hafa adai & aloha! I’m Savvy Andrews, a graduating senior at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in Communicology. As a storyteller, I strive to write with purpose, perspective, and yes—savvy. I\'ve always been drawn to stories. the quiet ones, the urgent ones, the ones that shape how we see each other and the world around us. I fell in love with journalism in 2020, during a time when our world needed truth, clarity, and diverse voices more than ever and I\'m passionate about storytelling that does just that. My love for storytelling is matched by my comfort in front of the camera—since the age of eight, I\'ve trained and competed in hip-hop dance, the sport that shaped my confidence as both a performer and communicator. Dance taught me how to command a stage, read an audience, and express emotion with intention, skills I now carry into interviews, multimedia reporting, and digital storytelling. The past four years of college have allowed me to connect with amazing people, discover my voice, and exploring the fields of journalism, communicology, and public relations.
