ABOUT SAVANA EVERHART NUNN
Savana was raised on a meat goat farm in Durham, NC, and became interested in animal health after helping treat countless animals for various ailments on both her family\'s farm in addition to her job as an animal care assistant at a local animal hospital. She later realized she could combine her passions for animal health and helping people by studying food safety. Her Master\'s thesis from North Carolina State University focused on the food safety culture surrounding the implementation of a novel temperature monitoring system at university dining halls. Savana graduated with her Ph.D. in One Health Sciences from the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine. Her research focused on mastitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus in dairy cattle and how that relates to food safety. In addition to her research, she worked alongside faculty to develop the Ph.D. program in One Health Sciences at Texas Tech University from conception to full approval by both the Texas Board of Higher Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). She also has extensive experience with food safety communication on both the retail and consumer side, as well as client education in a veterinary setting. Savana\'s interests are in One Health, specifically in preventing the spread zoonotic pathogens, epidemiology, and food microbiology.
