Dr. Biswas is a globally recognized leader in medical technology innovation, knowledge transfer and deep tech commercialization around academic research. With over 20 years of distinguished experience, he bridges research, entrepreneurship, and investment to transform academic breakthroughs into real-world impact. As a faculty member, he is deeply engaged in both pioneering novel medical devices and inspiring the next generation of engineers and innovators through training and mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students in invention, innovation, translation, and hands-on design of cutting-edge medical technologies. In his role as Executive Director of Technology Transition at Texas A&M Engineering, Dr. Biswas provides strategic leadership to drive technology translation for faculty and researchers. He partners across the research enterprise and with federal agencies, industry, and investors to advance priority technology domains.A champion of academic innovation and entrepreneurship, Dr. Biswas leads a NSF-funded Innovation Hub and has been a part of of the National Innovation Network since its establishment in 2012. His leadership has helped catalyze entrepreneurial mindsets among innovators and develop frameworks to accelerate research toward commercialization on both state and national levels. As an inventor, Dr. Biswas holds 24 U.S. and international patents and has founded six healthcare startups, serving as CEO, CTO, and COO. He has overseen all facets of product development, team building, and venture fundraising, directly shaping the growth and success of these ventures. His impact extends beyond company formation—he mentors emerging entrepreneurs, directs innovation and commercialization initiatives, and actively guides technology transfer processes. Dr. Biswas serves on several advisory and governance boards and has led or co-led multiple federally funded innovation and entrepreneurship projects and sought after nationally and internationally as a speaker, peer reviewer, and advisor for innovation-focused programs.Dr. Biswas earned his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University, where he was honored as the Michael E. DeBakey Scholar in Cardiovascular Sciences. He further completed the Executive Program in Finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management. His contributions have been recognized through prestigious awards, including induction as a Senior Member of the National Academy of Inventors, Texas A&M Outstanding Young Alumni, and the Texas A&M System Outstanding Employee Service Award.
