ABOUT SAÚL AMEZCUA

Saúl is a New Orleans Posse scholar, first-generation college and law school graduate, and proud child of immigrants. Saúl graduated from Bard College in 2019 with a joint major in Political Studies and Human Rights. During his time at Bard College, his studies centered largely on Latin America and the rights of individuals. In 2018 Saúl was awarded a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Award which allowed him to study abroad in Berlin, Germany. While studying in Germany, as part of a final school project, Saúl created a compilation of creative writings detailing the experience of his mother crossing the U.S./Mexico border when she was 15 years old. This project titled,\"Documenting the undocumented: how the US-Mexico border shaped my mother\'s life\" was subsequently published by the online publication company Media Diversified. After undergrad, Saúl worked as a 4th-grade teacher in Washington Heights and served as the Program Coordinator for The Fellowship Initiative (TFI). TFI is a J.P Morgan Chase-funded three-year college-access program that aids over 80 high school young men of color in New York City.Saúl recently earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in May 2025. During law school, he was a member of the Brooklyn Law Alternative Dispute Resolution Honor Society, served as Outreach & Business Manager for the Brooklyn Law Journal of Law and Policy, held the role of Academic Chair on the Executive Board of the Latin-American Law Student Association during his 2L year, and mentored fellow students through Brooklyn Law’s Student Advisor and Mentoring Program.A firm believer in mentorship, since 2015, Saúl has been an active member of Brothers@, a non-profit organization centered on college-access programs that aid high school and college-age young men of color in acquiring skills, resources, and experience to succeed academically and professionally.
