About Saúl A. Cabán
Equity-centered student success leader with 10+ years of experience across higher education, youth development, and career/workforce development, advancing retention, belonging, and academic achievement for historically underserved student populations.Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, I moved to Holyoke, Massachusetts at a young age. Holyoke is the community that raised me, and today it is where I help students achieve their educational and personal goals.Raised in a low-income household as a first-generation college student, my lived experiences shaped my understanding of how transformative access to education can be. They continue to ground my commitment to advancing equity and expanding opportunity for students from historically marginalized backgrounds.I am a graduate of Holyoke Public Schools and Westfield State University, where I earned a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Public Administration. In 2018, I was recognized as one of BusinessWest’s 40 Under 40.Today, I serve as Program Director of ALANA Men in Motion at Holyoke Community College, where I lead a high-impact, equity-centered initiative designed to improve outcomes for men of color while advancing broader student success. Through a structured model of mentoring, coaching, and peer leadership, we support 100+ students annually with a focus on strengthening belonging, engagement, and academic success.Beyond my role, I remain deeply connected to my community through youth coaching and mentorship.
