ABOUT SATVEER NIJJAR
My business is called \'Attention Seekers\' as all too often when self-harm is mentioned people respond with \"Oh yes, it\'s attention seeking behaviour\". Having heard this phrase so often, I felt it would be the appropriate name for my business, the irony being that my training is here to dispel that very myth among many others through academics and user-led training.I provide bespoke mental health training to fit your organisations/schools needs and have experience with working with professionals (medical and non-medical), students and parents. All the training aims to not only provide knowledge, but reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and self-harm. Self-harm is often misunderstood or feared, my training gives staff confidence in supporting individuals who self-harm alongside knowledge and understanding.I am proud to state that both my training and public speaking is very well received, the feedback is regularly rated \'excellent\'.Typical self-harm sessions cover- Who self-harms- Why people turn to self-harm- The role of the internet/social media- Myths on self-harm- How to support someone who self-harmsPupil sessions are delivered sensitively covering emotional wellbeing with student led discussions around self-harm and how to manage emotional distress. Pupils regularly comment on how they appreciated the honesty of the session alongside it\'s usefulness to them. I have extensive experience of speaking at national conferences, including those for The Royal College of Psychiatrists and The Boarding School Associations, Samaritans and RCEM. I am also an experienced workshop leader at conferences in the area of self-harm education.
