At MPL, I’m leading the frontend development for Desktop Poker, one of MPL’s flagship real-money games on desktop platforms. My focus has been on building a high-performance, scalable, and multi-window desktop poker application that delivers a smooth gaming experience even under heavy system load. Key Contributions:1. Architected and developed the Desktop Poker app using Next.js, TypeScript, and Electron, targeting high concurrency and real-time responsiveness.2. Designed the application to support 20+ simultaneous poker tables, each running in independent Electron processes, while sharing a single WebSocket connection for all real-time data.3. Implemented a multi-window communication framework to manage synchronized game states, user actions, and animations across separate windows.4. Built a centralized state manager (custom or leveraging Redux/Zustand) that allowed efficient memory usage while handling thousands of concurrent in-game events.5. Optimized resource utilization across renderer processes to avoid memory leaks and CPU spikes — ensuring the app stays performant on low- to mid-end systems.6. Developed custom Electron window management logic to dynamically launch, close, or reuse table windows based on player actions and session state.7. Integrated real-time game events (bets, moves, timers, wins) using a robust socket framework, with reconnection logic, event queues, and latency compensation.8. Implemented UI optimizations such as offloading heavy animations to GPU layers, reducing DOM size, and using virtualization where needed for performance. Engineering Impact:1. Reduced system resource usage by >40% through process separation and memory tuning.2. Achieved <100ms average event sync across multiple windows with centralized socket strategy.3.
