About Sathvik Raghavendra

I love figuring out how packets really move through a network, the hidden paths they take, and the protocols that guide them. I’m fascinated by how security layers keep that journey safe, and how automation makes the whole system smarter and faster. For me, networking isn’t just about devices talking — it’s about building reliable, secure conversations between them.Currently, I’m at Meta as a Network Development Engineer, working on vendor integrations, network security (SCEP, EST, TLS/mTLS, PKI), automation frameworks, and optimizing backend systems for scale and reliability. I’ve also been involved in control plane security hardening and rolling out mTLS across production services.I graduated with a Master’s in Computer Networking from NC State University, Raleigh. Over the years, I’ve developed a strong passion for networks, virtualization, and automation — basically, how to make systems talk to each other efficiently and securely. My journey started at Cisco Systems, where I worked in the Collaboration domain (CUCM, CUC, IP Phones, Jabber) and got curious about automating repetitive tasks. That curiosity led me to Python, REST APIs, Django, and even using NLP to make network operations smarter. At Nokia, I spent my time debugging, automating, and recreating setups on big routers (Nokia 7750 SR) that directly helped developers close issues. With certifications like CCNA (R&S, Voice) and Cisco DevNet Associate, and hands-on experience across virtualization (VMware, KVM, Docker) and automation (Python, Ansible), I’ve built a mix of networking depth and software skills.

Experience

  1. Network Development Engineer

    Meta

May 2024 — Present · Menlo Park, CA, US

Led vendor integration initiatives across Cisco, Arista, JunOS, and EVO platforms, designing configuration guides for VM workflows for SCEP and EST protocols on our RA Service.•Built automated remediation tool that identifies and revokes certs based on the device lifecycle status on RA service.•Developed comprehensive SCEP, EST integration testing framework that included CA cert retrieval, challenge generation, and certificate enrollment/re-enrollment on our RA service.•Led collaborations with other teams to integrate mTLS in Syslog and GNMI services and built configuration guides to roll this out on Network production devices. • Optimized Secret Broker service by achieving 75% cache hit rate and reducing total processing time by 80% through caching regexes and external service calls.• Improved system reliability and monitoring of Secret Broker service by integrating Prometheus for GO runtime metrics, adding comprehensive test coverage with performance benchmarks.• Led the Project to harden control plane security by identifying coverage gaps in control plane filters and rolled out the changes on all corporate JUNOS network devices.
