About Saswato Ray
I am Saswato Ray and I\'m from Kolkata, India, currently studying Social Studies and Economics (Secondary) with a citation in Italian at Harvard College in the Class of 2025. I take a lot of interest in the Social Sciences, Politics, Public Policy, Advocacy, Literature, Journalism, Teaching, and Law. I\'m also really passionate about researching Public Policy and working to refine our Politics so that it can serve people better. To that extent, I\'ve worked as an Intern at the United Nations Population Fund, House of Commons of the United Kingdom, served in different student leadership positions at the Institute of Politics (IOP) at Harvard University, and so on. My Senior Thesis at Harvard focuses on Christian schools in India and how they aim to emulate standards and norms of \'good\' education practices in India - the paper uses an ethnographic method to understand and analyze the impact of colonial normativity on contemporary Indian beliefs and practices vis-a-vis education. Beyond my academic and professional life, I am really interested in Theatre, Renaissance Italian Poetry and Quantum Theory. I have been engaged with theatre since I was in the 9th grade and have acted in quite a few productions at Harvard as well. I am also a big fan of the Romance Languages and quite enthused about learning different languages and engaging with different cultures around the world!
